Paranova and AMFresh roll out fibre-based HeatSeal packaging

Packaging manufacturer Paranova has collaborated with fresh produce supplier AMFresh to launch approximately one million packs of its new BOOMBITES grape variety in sustainable, fibre-based punnets.
The recyclable packaging solution utilises Paranova’s expanding FibreFresh HeatSeal range and is now available across major UK retailers nationwide, including M&S, Tesco, and Ocado. Designed as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional single-use plastic formats, the FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnet enables fresh produce growers and retailers to advance their plastic-reduction targets without compromising on shelf life or structural performance.
Engineered with specialist respiration and transpiration management technology, the paper-based punnet scientifically maintains freshness throughout transport and retail display. Crucially for food packers and suppliers, the FibreFresh format is designed for smooth integration on existing packing lines, offering high operational efficiency and machinability with minimal line adjustments.
While the FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnet was previously adopted across the tomato sector, this commercial rollout marks the format’s expansion into the grape category, proving its flexibility for diverse fresh produce applications.
“Producing nearly one million FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnets for the BOOMBITES grape launch is a significant milestone for Paranova and demonstrates how quickly our FibreFresh range is gaining momentum across the fresh produce sector,” said Michael Conway, chief commercial officer at Paranova. “This project showcases the versatility of the FibreFresh HeatSeal Punnet and how it can be successfully adapted for new produce categories while delivering the quality, performance, and shelf appeal expected by both retailers and consumers. It’s another example of how we’re helping customers make the transition to fibre-based packaging at scale.”
