UK breakfast cereals market update

Research and Markets has announced the addition of the Breakfast Cereals Market Update 2014 report to its offering.
This market update examines the UK market for breakfast cereals. In the five-year review period analysed within this report, the market has grown on a year-on-year basis, with total value growing by 4.2% in 2013. This growth is spread across both sectors operating in this market, although the rate of growth was by no means equal. The ready-to-eat (RTE) cereals sector is the largest, but consumption rates in this sector continue to exhibit a long-term downward trend in the UK. As such, growth in 2013 was modest and failed to exceed inflation. In contrast, the hot cereals sector is significantly smaller in size, but expanded dramatically in 2013, as products such as porridge continued to enjoy resurgence in the UK marketplace.
Throughout the next five years, market growth will be dominated by inflated retail prices, rather than growing volume sales. The hot cereals sector will continue to expand at a healthy rate, although not to the same extent as between 2010 and 2013. On the other hand, consumption in the RTE cereals sector will continue to decline within the context of an increasingly diverse marketplace. Overall, this report forecasts total market growth of 13.3% between 2014 and 2018.
