Scottish FDF CEO appointed

David Thomson has been appointed CEO of the Scottish Food and Drink Federation (SFDF). Thomson will take up his new role in December 2015.

He brings a wealth of experience to the FDF, having worked at a senior level for the Scottish government for 17 years, including five years as head of food, drink and rural communities as well as two as head of primary care.

FDF director general Ian Wright says, “I am delighted to welcome David Thomson to SFDF. We very much look forward to having him as part of the FDF senior team. David’s breadth of experience of food and drink policy makes him the ideal candidate to take up the mantle and represent the sector in Scotland. With David’s help we will continue to champion UK food and drink as a world leading industrial sector and outstanding national asset.”

Thomson adds, “Scotland’s food and drink industry is world class. It will truly be an honour to represent such a vibrant sector and one with such potential to contribute even more to our national economy and community. I am looking forward to the challenges of ensuring Scotland’s food and drink industry’s bright future.”
