Wall’s Pastry launches UK’s first chicken roll

Wall’s Pastry have released the country’s first chicken dinner-inspired rolls.

The chicken rolls have been developed by Addo Food Group and are made with 100% British chicken thigh, onion, garlic, nutmeg and a blend of fresh herbs including sage, parsley, rosemary and marjoram wrapped in a low-fat puff pastry.

The rolls also serve as a healthier snack alternative. The 120g Chicken Jumbo Roll has 6.8g saturated fat, 17g fat, only 324 calories per roll and 13g protein. One of the four 50g snack rolls contains 3.4g of saturated fat, 8.1g of fat, 145 calories and 5.3g of protein.

This is the second new product launch in Wall’s healthier range, following its plant-based vegan rolls launched four months ago.

Michael Holton, brand manager at Wall’s Pastry, said: “There’s currently a big gap in the market for chilled chicken pastry products and we’re incredibly excited to be launching a healthier pastry roll that is now lower in fat and packed full of flavour.

“Consumers deserve to have a leaner, more affordable alternative to a pork sausage roll, but they shouldn’t have to miss out on the classic sausage roll experience – whether it’s for a quick dinner with the family, or an on-the-go treat at lunchtime. The chicken rolls are ideal for those wanting to reduce their red meat consumption and offer something a little different for consumers who are looking for a higher protein product.”

The chicken rolls are available at selected UK Asda stores.

Are there any plans to sell the Walls Chicken Rolls in other supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi, Lidl etc? If so do you know when?

I look forward to your reply.
    Mr. Chris Barnes.

      Hi Chris,

We’re unable to answer that at the moment but will keep you updated if we hear of any more plans from Wall’s to expand this range into other supermarkets.

      Thanks.
