Norseland launches new Mexicana Vegan Slices, secures Sainsbury’s listing

UK speciality cheese company Norseland has announced that it has secured a listing with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s for a brand-new slices version of its award-winning Mexicana Vegan cheese.

Mexicana Vegan Slices is now available in 200g slices from 482 Sainbury’s stores across the UK and wil retail at £2.60. The pack contains 10 slices of Mexicana Vegan. Sainsbury’s is also introducing Norseland’s award-wining Applewood Vegan block cheeze to 411 of its stores nationwide.

Mexicana Vegan Slices contain the same fiery spice mix and real bell and jalapeño peppers as its famous dairy cousin Mexicana.

Lisa Harrison, senior brand manager for Mexicana Vegan and Mexicana Vegan Slices, said: “We launched Mexicana Vegan this summer after the tremendous success of the launch of the award-winning Applewood Vegan, the plant-based version of the UK’s number one smoky cheese.

“Mexicana Vegan has proved just as popular – and award-winning – which promoted us to look at a slices version. We know the demand is there as more of the population works from home and has the majority of their meals at home, therefore convenience is important when it comes to preparing food.

“And Mexicana Vegan is popular with vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians alike to due its meltability, proving to be perfect for spicing up toasties, pizzas, paninis, pasta bakes and enchiladas.

“We are thrilled that Sainsbury’s will be stocking our Mexicana Vegan Slices and will look great alongside our Applewood Vegan Slices, which Sainsbury’s also stocks in 304 stores across the UK, and Applewood Vegan block cheeze which is launching in stores this month.”

Mexicana Vegan Slices are coconut-based made in an allergen-free factory, are fortified with vitamin B12 and calcium and are Vegan Society approved.

Mexicana Vegan was the winner in the Dairy-Free Vegan Cheese Blocks category of the Quality Food Awards 2020.
