Plastic-free, plant-based chewing gum secures listing in WHSmith

Milliways, the plastic-free, super natural chewing gum brand, has secured a listing in over 150 WHSmith stores across the UK.

Milliways, which was launched in London in January 2021 by 29-year-old entrepreneur, Tom Raviv, is a plastic-free alternative.

The gum is 100% biodegradable and sugar-free, using only plant-based ingredients in its range, which currently comprises four flavours: Bubblemint, Peppermint, Mighty Mint and Watermelon.

Milliways announced a successful six-figure fundraise in October 2021. Since then, the company has been working on “reinventing the future of snacking” and making plastic-free chewing gum the norm.

Milliways CEO and founder, Tom Raviv, said: “Our mission is to make plastic-free gum available and accessible to everyone, and with this major listing we’re one step closer to achieving that. We’re excited to be working with one of the best-loved names on the British high street to deliver delicious sustainable chewing gum to people at major travel hubs as they head off on their adventures.”

Ben Storey, WHSmith, said: “We’re delighted to be launching Milliways chewing gum across WHSmith’s stores and offering a plastic-free, planet-friendly alterative for our customers. Milliways joins some of the UK’s best-loved brands in our stores”.

Since launch, Milliways’ growth has been impressive. It is now stocked in Whole Foods Market, hundreds of independent outlets and offices in the UK, and has been the best-selling natural chewing gum brand on Amazon UK for over a year.

Milliways’ mission is to create widespread awareness that conventional big-brand gum is made from petroleum-derived, single-use plastic ingredients, amongst other artificial additives, and to make plant-based, biodegradable chewing gum the status quo.

Milliways’ super natural Gum is made from 100% plant-based and plastic-free ingredients, making it biodegradable, compostable, vegan, sugar-free, gluten-free, aspartame-free, and sustainable. Its packaging is also entirely plastic-free, recyclable and biodegradable. According to Milliways, its products are made up of just eight naturally derived and sustainable ingredients sourced from farms around the world, and contain only the right fruits and herbs to deliver flavour.
