Pepperell’s chooses Automac for efficient wrapping

Following recurring issues with a machine supplied by another brand, fine butchers and meat suppliers, Pepperell’s Meats, has turned to Automac UK to help reliably protect and present its products.
Pepperell’s Meats ordered the Fabbri Group Elixa 24 wrapping machine from Automac UK on a Friday and it arrived at their site on the very next Monday.
Fine butchers and meat suppliers Pepperell’s Meats have turned to Automac UK for dependable assistance in protecting and presenting their products after experiencing repeated problems with a machine that was supplied by a different brand. On Friday, Pepperell’s Meats placed an order with Automac UK for their Fabbri Group Elixa 24 wrapping machine, and the following Monday, it arrived at its location.
Installed in February, the technology is being used two to three hours every day to help Pepperell’s Meats wrap and protect its sausages, free range chicken and other selected products
“Unfortunately, Pepperell Meats’ previous wrapping machine was let down by poor quality components and inexperienced engineers. When they called us on a Friday, we were delighted to pull out all the stops over the weekend!” says Gavin Wooding, sales manager of Automac UK.
Established in 1965, Pepperell’s Meats is a family-owned butchery with over 35 staff. They supply fresh meat, sausages, bacon and deli meats both online to customers across the UK and direct to businesses in East Anglia and London.
“We’re very pleased with the Elixa 24. It’s easy-to-use, fast, effective and the smaller wrap makes it more sustainable and reduces cost. It really was just a case of plugging it in and away we went!” says Chris Pepperell, managing director of Pepperell’s Meats.
The Elixa 24 uses 280mm wide wrap instead of traditional 400mm, helping to reduce the quantity of plastic wrap required.
The wrap is warmed to make it supple and is then stretched over the product to the desired tension. Two final heating stages then instantaneously secure the wrap under the base, before it exits via a conveyor.
The Elixa 24 automatically adapts to differing sizes of product, with the option to alter heat and tension settings. In most instances, the Pepperell’s Meats’ team can begin using it immediately for any given product or batch.
A major factor in Pepperell’s Meats buying decision was the speed of servicing if the machine requires attention.
“As a busy and respected business, we need to be able to consistently deliver our delicious products to customers. Any hardworking machine is subject to wear but we know that if something does need replacing, Automac UK will make sure it’s back up and running in hours,” adds Chris Pepperell.
Automac UK holds a comprehensive stock of spare parts on its shelves in Manchester, with many already on their engineer’s vans.
A single point of contact, self-diagnosis of faults and the opportunity to borrow a replacement machine for longer repairs, all helped convince Pepperell’s Meats of the Automac UK and the Elixa 24’s dependability over competitors.
