From 8th September, shoppers can get their hands on Mulligan’s Stout (£4.99, 4x440ml) – a rich, velvety, award-winning stout that’s already turning heads in the beer world.

And here’s the kicker: it comes in 13% cheaper than Guinness ( Based on a comparison with Guinness Draught Stout Beer Cans 4x440ml for £5.75 from Sainsbury’s. Prices checked at www.sainsburys.co.uk on 20th August 2025).

With its deep black pour, creamy head and notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and sweet toffee, Mulligan’s delivers a delicious stout. Whether perfecting the ‘split the M’’ or hosting friends, it looks and tastes the part, for less than a familiar alternative…

The supermarket trialled the launch of its new beer in select regions, resulting in rave online reviews. One enthusiastic fan taste tested Aldi’s product against Guinness declaring: “That’s fantastic, what a beer. It’s rich, it’s creamy, good mouth feel, roasted Malt coming through. For me, the Mulligan’s wins.”[4]

They added; “The Aldi beer is beautiful.”

Others were quick to add their thoughts on the supermarket offering, describing it as “so much better than Guinness, delicious thanks.”

Another said they “definitely preferred it over canned Guinness.”

And it’s not just Mulligan’s making waves. Aldi is also launching a Specially Selected Chocolate Stout (£1.79, 500ml) – a decadent brew with indulgent cocoa notes, balanced by roasted malt – just in time for cosy autumn nights.

The news follows as Aldi’s Specially Selected Coffee Stout (£1.79, 500ml) was crowned ‘Best in the Country’ at the World Beer Awards this year. This rich, dark, and indulgent stout is layered with subtle coffee aromas, caramel sweetness, and smooth vanilla notes – a combination that’s already making it a crowd favourite.
