Paramount Retail Group moves to reshape the British meat industry with DB Foods’ acquisition

The Paramount Retail Group is reporting the next stage of its expansion ambitions after securing the acquisition of DB Foods.
The top wholesale meat supplier in the UK said it has made the decision to change the direction of the British meat business with the help, direction, and experience of its new owners. In addition to a £12 million strategic investment facility, the move will boost growth, improve services, and fortify the UK beef supply chain.
The partnership brings together two like-minded businesses committed to growth, sustainability, and innovation. The immediate result is a £30 million revenue growth forecast and a powerful boost to independent butchers and food retailers across the country.
DB Foods Groups’ reach stretches to meals and meat from a local butcher, or by popping into Tesco for a Finest Ready Meals; eating at Wagamama’s and even coming back from holiday on a British Airways flight.
DB Foods Group has already secured listings in major retailers for supermarkets such as Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons and online retailer Ocado. Over the last 30 years, the £122 million pound business has supported the British Butchery industry by providing direct support to 1000 butchers per week, whilst providing 240 jobs across the DB Foods Group production facilities and headquarters in Poole, UK. This partnership will further enhance resources, market reach and position DB Foods Group as leaders in this evolving space.
The £12 million investment facility from Paramount Retail Group will be channelled directly into expanding DB Foods Group’s production capacity, advancing its technology and infrastructure, and supporting the delivery of smarter, more agile services to customers. It also represents a major step forward in strengthening supply chain resilience across the UK meat sector, creating long-term benefits for producers, retailers and consumers alike.
Paul Taylor, chairman of Paramount Retail Group said: ‘’Butchers are at the heart of our high streets – they are often family businesses that provide jobs, expertise and a community connection. This acquisition is an investment in the future of food retail in the UK.’’
DB Foods has supplied the meat industry for over 30 years with an unparalleled reputation for quality, reliability and service. Under Paramount Retail Group’s ownership, the company will benefit from investment and resources that will allow it to expand operations whilst staying true to its rich heritage.
Graeme Clapp, commercial director of DB Foods Group said: ”We have carefully and methodically laid the foundations to make a significant impact in the wider retail sector and were looking for a partner with the expertise and ambition to help us fulfil the potential of our work,’ explains Graeme Clapp, commercial director of DB Foods.
”This summer, we were excited when the Paramount Retail Group not only took an interest in our company, but immediately understood what we wanted to achieve. When they proposed an investment and invitation for DB Foods to join their portfolio of retail businesses, we seized the opportunity”
The acquisition not only strengthens DB Foods Group’s operations at its Dorset headquarters, but also signals a broader commitment to innovation and sustainable growth across the UK meat industry. With a growing portfolio of major customers including Tesco, Aldi, Ocado, Wagamama, Popeyes and British Airways, DB Foods is well-positioned to lead the way in responsible, resilient food supply.
