Unilever to step up Polish soup production
Dutch-British food giant Unilever looks to consolidate its position as market leader in the Polish soup market.
The country remains one of the largest soup consumers in Central and Eastern Europe with growth of 60% in 2005 and a high increase in this year as well.
œTwo-digit growth is also expected in the following years, says Jarek
Malinowski, Unilever Polska management board member.
The group is to invest around £26 million in a new production building at its Poznan plant to increase its production of liquid carton soups for its popular Knorr and Unox brands.
As well as the new production building creating 150 new jobs within the community, the company will also set up an R&D centre in Poznan specialising in ready soups.
œInvestments related to the centre will stand at £5 million and it will employ over 70 specialists, said Malinowski.
