What a lot of water…

More than two million cubic metres of water – equivalent to 800 Olympic sized swimming pools – have been saved by UK food and drink manufacturers since 2007. That’s one of the findings contained in The Federation House Commitment – the water reduction programme launched in 2008 by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF).

“The progress already made against our 2020 target is extremely promising, and shows just what can be achieved by government and industry working together towards common aims,” says Commenting on the report, Andrew Kuyk, the FDF’s director of sustainability and competitiveness. “As we look to review and refresh the Five-fold Ambition, taking into account wider developments that have occurred since its launch, we will be reporting more on our members’ achievements in all areas of the Ambition, including water reduction, towards the end of the year.”
