Enbox and Víctor Folk recognised for circular Snack Shot design
Spanish sustainable packaging firm Enbox (World Vypmar) has been awarded the prestigious Arcapack Oro 2026 national award for Best Food Packaging, recognising its “Snack Shot” cherry tomato container developed on the brand’s sustainable Synergy packaging line.
The prize, which honours the standard of excellence in packaging design across Spain, was awarded to structural packaging designer Víctor Folk for creating a solution that simultaneously tackles plastic reduction, strict European fresh-produce regulations, and consumer engagement.
Turning fresh produce into an interactive experience
According to the award jury, the “Snack Shot” design addresses one of the fresh produce sector’s greatest contemporary commercial challenges: making healthy foods visually and emotionally appealing to children when competing against heavily marketed, ultra-processed snacks.
Folk’s structural design transforms a standard, passive cardboard tray into an active consumer experience. The packaging features a recyclable cardboard body equipped with an interactive outer sleeve. Through a simple folding mechanism engineered directly into the cardboard, the empty container can be reconfigured by the consumer into a miniature basketball hoop.
“This cardboard tray with an interactive sleeve becomes, via folding, a basketball hoop,” explained designer Víctor Folk regarding the concept. “Open, taste, and score.”
Compliance and structural innovation
Beyond consumer gamification, the underlying structural foundation of the award-winning package relies on Enbox’s Synergy line — a technology developed in partnership with global fibre-based packaging giant Graphic Packaging International.
The Synergy format was brought to market as a direct countermeasure to tighter European Union single-use plastic restrictions, such as the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) framework impacting fresh produce configurations under 1.5 kilograms. Manufactured using FSC-certified kraft cardboard derived from sustainably managed forests, the heat-sealable Synergy trays offer a fully recyclable mono-material alternative to traditional plastic clamshells.
From a supply chain standpoint, the jury highlighted the product’s ability to maintain high operational efficiency, transit strength, and automated packing compatibility for agricultural producers, allowing brands to eliminate plastic windows without increasing retail product spoilage.
The Arcapack Oro winners receive a signature handcrafted trophy plated in 18-karat gold, cementing Enbox and the Synergy platform’s position at the forefront of Spain’s rapidly shifting eco-friendly food packaging landscape.
