Carling is shaking up the beer aisle with its largest brand refresh in over three decades.

Rolling out from October 2026, the major identity overhaul is designed to strengthen the iconic beer’s appeal with a fresh generation of drinkers while honouring its deep brewing roots.

A bolder look grounded in heritage

The brand-new look introduces a striking, modern design engineered to increase visual standout on crowded retail shelves. While the updated badge brings a more confident and contemporary aesthetic, it intentionally incorporates nods to Carling’s rich history.

Key heritage cues featured in the new design include the Carling Brewery: visual illustrations inspired by the historic site; 100% British barley: a direct nod to the home-grown ingredients used to brew the lager; and using Burton upon Trent to celebrate the legendary brewing town where Molson Coors’ UK business is anchored.

Driving momentum after record-breaking launch

The refreshed badge has already proven its mettle, making its initial debut on Carling Black Label — the brand’s first new lager launch in more than ten years. Rolling into stores in March 2026, Black Label has already raked in £4.5 million in sales across the GB off-trade.

Now, this new visual identity is extending across Carling’s wider range, establishing a consistent, premium look across all cans and multipacks.

Consumer testing revealed that the new branding resonates powerfully across demographics. Crucially, shoppers less familiar with the brand rated the identity as highly relevant and distinct on shelf — a vital win in the core lager category where visibility dictates consumer choice.

Backed by football and retail investment

To amplify the rollout, Carling is leaning heavily into its strongest cultural touchpoint: football. As the core lager brand most closely associated with the sport among UK consumers, Carling will continue to build on its status as the Official Beer Partner of the Emirates FA Cup.

Ryan McLaughlin, brand director for Carling at Molson Coors Beverage Company, explained the strategy behind the refresh: “Core lager has an important role to play in the off-trade. Familiarity matters at the beer fixture, which is why we’ve retained the elements of Carling that people know and recognise… Following the launch of Carling Black Label earlier this year, this refresh is another step in strengthening the wider Carling range and helping a new generation of shoppers see the brand as one for them.”

With a new above-the-line campaign platform planned for the year ahead, the refresh promises retailers improved shelf standout, increased footfall, and robust support around major social and sporting occasions.
