Rexam welcomes MP Mary

Packaging firm Rexam recently welcomed Mary Creagh, Labour MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to its UK beverage can manufacturing plant in Wakefield.

She was given an introduction to the manufacturing process, as well as an insight into the life cycle of Rexam’s 100 per cent, infinitely recyclable aluminium cans.

Over the past year, the Wakefield plant has reduced its gas consumption by 25 per cent and electricity consumption by 30 per cent.

“It’s always great to have the opportunity to welcome an MP to the plant and show off our can making process,” says Michael Waite, Wakefield plant manager. “Alongside this, a lot of hard work goes into reducing our environmental impact so we were especially pleased to be able to show the steps we are taking to monitor and improve the plant’s environmental performance.”
