Package prototyping made easier

Verbatim, part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group, has announced two new filament materials – PET and high performance PLA – for use with fused fabrication filament 3D printers.

Offering improved versatility, transparency and print quality, the 3D modeling materials are particularly appealing to package design engineers involved with developing production quality packaging prototypes and mock ups.

Manufactured in Japan, the new Verbatim PET filament is a stable yet lightweight plastic already popularly used for packaging bottled drinks, for which demand is growing in the 3D printing industry due to its ease of use, sturdiness and high level of transparency.

Later this year, two other filaments will be launched: BVOH, a water soluble support material; and PP (polypropylene), a commonly used tough and flexible plastic.
