The opening of GNT’s first dedicated office in Shanghai represents a localised expansion for the Exberry brand, designed to meet the intensifying demand for natural colour solutions within the Chinese food and beverage industry.

By establishing a permanent technical and commercial hub, GNT is positioning itself to support manufacturers in navigating China’s high-velocity market, where speed to market and technical agility are paramount for success.

Central to this new facility is a state-of-the-art application laboratory, which allows GNT’s local experts to provide tailored, face-to-face technical support and formulation advice directly to Chinese producers.

Because Exberry products are created from edible fruits, vegetables, and plants using gentle physical processing methods, they align perfectly with these colouring food requirements. This allows manufacturers to achieve clean-label declarations that resonate with modern Chinese consumers seeking transparency and natural ingredients.

The new office ensures that GNT can provide the precise regulatory and technical guidance needed to implement these rainbow shades across a diverse array of applications while maintaining compliance with the latest national standards.

The expansion also underscores GNT’s commitment to its “Powering the Next Generation of Colour” strategy, which emphasises sustainability and innovation. By placing technical teams on the ground, the company can move at the same speed as its customers, facilitating faster decision-making and more efficient product development cycles.

As the Chinese market continues to show strong momentum toward healthy, plant-based, and clean-label products, GNT’s localised presence serves as a critical bridge between European sustainable technology and the specific functional demands of the Chinese food processing sector.

Andreas Thiede, general manager APAC at GNT Group, said: “China is a dynamic market, with strong momentum behind natural and clean-label food and beverage products. Customers here move fast – and they expect partners to be able to move with them. Now, with a local team in place, we can support this growth with faster decisions, closer collaboration, and tailored solutions.”

Victor Foo, GNT Group’s head of sales for China, said: “Our new application lab allows customers to visit us, collaborate face to face, and receive tailored training that supports their teams and applications. This helps us work faster together, strengthen relationships, and unlock new growth opportunities across China.”
