IMCD has officially opened a new technical centre in Istanbul, Türkiye, creating a consolidated innovation hub designed to accelerate formulation development and strengthen technical collaboration across multiple industries — including food and drink manufacturing.

The facility, located in Ataşehir, brings together IMCD’s food & nutrition, beauty & personal care, and coatings & construction laboratories under one roof for the first time, while also introducing a new pharmaceuticals laboratory to the region.

The centre offers a significant boost in hands‑on formulation expertise, pilot‑scale testing and ingredient optimisation. The Food & Nutrition Applications Laboratory is equipped to support manufacturers across dairy, bakery, beverages, confectionery, and meat and savoury categories, combining global trend insight with practical development capabilities.

The facility provides formulation development, pilot trials, ingredient optimisation and ready‑to‑use prototype concepts — all aimed at helping producers improve taste, texture, nutritional value and functionality.

IMCD says the new Centre is designed to act as a strategic hub for innovation pipelines, enabling customers to refine existing products or develop new ones with greater speed and confidence. The company now operates more than 80 technical centres worldwide, and the Istanbul site strengthens its ability to offer localised support backed by global expertise.

Aylin Zakuto, managing director of IMCD Türkiye, emphasised the importance of the investment for the region’s fast‑growing chemical and ingredients sector. “The chemical industry in Türkiye is one of the sectors with growth potential with its geographical advantage and qualified workforce,” she said. “As an organisation that has been serving Türkiye for 21 years, we have a strong presence and an expert team of more than 100 people who keep the pulse of the market to better support our many local customers.”

Zakuto added that the new centre will serve as “a chemical technology hub where customers will be able to accelerate product selection and formulation and attend technical training and seminars, leveraging IMCD’s global and local expertise to seize every local market opportunity. This is how we provide solutions to support our customers from concept to market.”

For food and drink manufacturers navigating increasingly complex formulation challenges — from clean‑label reformulation to sensory optimisation and nutritional enhancement — the new Technical Centre offers a powerful resource designed to shorten development cycles and strengthen product performance in a competitive market.
