Delamere steps into retro confectionery

Cheshire-based dairy producer Delamere has announced its first-ever brand collaboration, partnering with historic British confectionery giant Swizzels to launch a nostalgic line of flavoured milks.

Moving into retail channels this July, the range reimagines generation-spanning sweet shop favourites inside a traditional milk bottle format.

The upcoming line-up features three distinct sweet-inspired profiles packaged in single-serve 240ml glass bottles, launching with a recommended retail price (RRP) of £1.17: Squashies Drumstick Raspberry & Milk; Squashies Rhubarb & Custard; and Lemon Refreshers

The packaging relies heavily on vibrant, instantly recognisable branding from the Swizzels sweet wrappers, contrasted against the traditional, creamy aesthetic of old-school glass milk bottles. The visual pairing aims to tap directly into the ongoing consumer demand for comfort, heritage, and playful retro styling.

Capitalising on the nostalgia trend

The launch is strategically timed for the peak summer trading period, explicitly designed to help independent and major retailers capture high-margin impulse sales from commuters, families on day trips, and picnickers.

Jessica Page, brand manager at Delamere Flavoured Milk, highlighted how consumer appetite for retro flavours drove the product development: “Nostalgia is a huge trend at the moment and by reimagining retro flavours, we’re bringing together trusted heritage, playful nostalgia and great tasting flavoured milk in a way which really resonates with today’s consumers.”

Sarah-Louise Heslop, head of marketing at Swizzels, agreed that the partnership matches the operational values of both UK manufacturers, noting that the combination “will transport consumers back to childhood memories, blending the comfort of the past with a modern twist that appeals across generations.”

A long-term partnership formula

Brokered by Blonde Sheep Licensing, this rollout marks only the baseline phase of what both companies intend to be a multi-year commercial relationship. Delamere has confirmed that its product development teams are already actively exploring additional seasonal sweet-shop flavour profiles to expand the range later this year and into 2027.
