Pick of the crop

Summer has arrived, along with the nice, fresh-looking pineapple cover of this month. Our product focus on fruit and vegetables peels the layers off the different aspects of this sector. I’ve looked at handling, processing, logistics and new products so you get a good overview of new developments across the line.

In terms of overviews, I have also attempted to compile the pick of the crop from Vitafoods and Interpack. Nutraceuticals still seemed to be going strong in Geneva and in terms of packaging, our feet have just about recovered from walking the halls of messe Düsseldorf. We tried to see as many people at possible but what proved to be a small logistical issue was actually a benefit – often there were simply too many visitors at the stands. It looked like it was a successful show for most and I hope you were among them.

Finally, this issue is my last as acting editor of Food and Drink Technology. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking after the publication for the last few months and wish the new editor all the best in the role. I’m sure you will make her welcome and she looks forward to meeting you at upcoming events and trade shows.
