Instant development capabilities transform production

Sternchemie has strengthened its position in instant applications with a new fluidised bed agglomerator at the Stern‑Technology Center in Ahrensburg — a move that gives manufacturers faster development cycles, tighter functionality control and more predictable scale‑up.
The pilot system lets the company simulate industrial instantising conditions with high accuracy. Powders are fluidised and coated with customised lecithin blends, creating intensive surface contact and an even, production‑ready coating. For producers, this means faster validation, more precise recommendations and reduced risk at scale-up.
Daniel Kandt, technical product manager instant, says the new capability delivers “valid results faster, and solutions that are an exact fit,” enabling customers to move from concept to line trials with greater certainty.
The system also supports targeted optimisation of key instant properties — solubility, wetting, foaming — while allowing rapid testing of multiple lecithin blends, dosages and process parameters. This reduces reliance on external partners and helps manufacturers avoid time‑ and cost‑intensive factory trials.
Beyond customer projects, Sternchemie is using the platform to explore new functional solutions, including foam control, alternative raw materials and improved powder performance. Its integration into the Stern‑Technology Center opens group‑wide opportunities across the Stern‑Wywiol Gruppe, where surface-active liquid applications can enhance stability, processability and digestibility in powder-based systems.
