CBE for FDF director general

Ian Wright, director general of the UK’s Food and Drink Federation (FDF), has received a CBE for political and public service.

Of his honour, Wright says, “For all of my adult lifetime third party politics has been a private passion. Our fortunes have waxed and waned but the friendships I have made have endured and the commitment I have seen from my colleagues has never wavered. It is really very humbling to receive this recognition and I am very grateful for it.”

Wright, who was previously corporate relations director with major drinks company Diageo, joined the FDF in March. He has since been leading the organisation in ensuring government and stakeholders understand the importance of food and drink manufacturing and support the industry to meet the changing needs of UK consumers in the future.

He spent more than two decades in senior management positions with Diageo and chemist Boots and has also worked for other food businesses including Pillsbury, Burger King and Mars Confectionery.
