Tea brand takes on Britain

Zealong Tea has launched its New Zealand grown tea in Britain, following its exhibition at the Natural Food & Organic Show in April.

The organically certified, fully traceable tea brand has chosen Britain to be the first country to experience its first ever tea bag.

Gigi Crawford, general manager of the Zealong Tea Estate, says deciding to launch the new product in a country where the classic ‘cuppa’ is an integral part of daily life was an easy choice.

“It is no secret that Britain is a nation of tea drinkers and there is nothing more quintessentially English than a cup of tea,” she explains.

“At Zealong we pride ourselves on our passion and dedication for producing tea to the highest certified standard in the whole world and we are looking forward to sharing our passion with a country that has had an infatuation with the humble brew since the early 17th century.”

Internationally recognised for its purity, Zealong Tea, which is stocked by Harrods, has until now only been available in loose leaf form.

“Zealong’s tea bags are pyramid in shape, allowing the full leaf teas the space to expand and breathe much better, creating a stronger, clearer flavour,” adds Crawford.

“We had a vision to grow and create a product free of chemical sprays or fertilisers, and be certified as being 100% organic. It has been hard work, but it just shows that with hard work and dedication, success can be achieved.

“As a company we are proud of the innovation we have brought to the tea industry and what we have achieved in not only creating great tasting teas, but products that have very distinctive health benefits due to the regime we have adopted in terms of standards and quality,” she concludes.
