Companies look to booming French market

Recent figures released by Food from Britain (FFB) indicate there has never been a better time for British food and drink exporters to target France.

The country is the second biggest export destination for British produce behind Ireland, with a value of £1.37 billion in 2006 – an increase of 11.1% compared to 2005.
To complement this increase in demand from British food and drink, FFB is offering British companies a valuable insight into the French retail sector with a two-day seminar designed to help identify opportunities and routes to market.
The seminar will focus on three key development areas for British suppliers: mainstream retailers, hard discounters and UK expatriates and tourists.
Mainstream retailers are often seen as the main route to market and the seminar will shed light on the market structure while giving retailer profiles and highlighting the latest opportunities for private label producers.
The hard discounters sector will be explored, with delegates provided with an in-depth analysis of the market structure as well as profiles of the leading market players.
The Food Retailing in France seminar takes place at Hediard Gourmet Food Hall in Central Paris on 21 and 22 June 2007. For further information and to book your place, contact Harriet Pope or Hayley Waters on +33 1 55 35 08 08 or email hpope@ffb.fr.”
