Runamok unveils new collection of varietal, hot and infused honeys

US, Vermont-based specialty food manufacturer Runamok has expanded its product line to include a brand-new collection of carefully crafted honeys. The initial collection features eight premium honeys across three different categories: Varietal, Hot, and Infused. The varietal honeys are Florida Orange Blossom, High Plains Clover, and Runamok’s signature Beekeeper’s Cut. The three hot honeys are Chipotle Morita Infused, Chile de Arbol Infused and Szechuan Peppercorn Infused. Rounding out the collection is a pair of infused honeys: Lemon Verbena Infused and Hibiscus Flower Infused.

“With the help of our resident beekeeper, we have worked hard to source the best, most unique honey in the US,” said Laura Sorkin, co-founder of Runamok. “Our primary focus has been finding rare varietals to bring to our customers, and for the hot and infused varieties, we wanted to preserve the rich base flavor of our honeys and pair it with just the right amount of heat and essence to expand the ways this wonderful ingredient can be used.”

The signature Beekeeper’s Cut (‘Our Beekeepers Favorite Honey’) is the standout varietal in the lineup. It is a sweet, floral honey with a bright finish. The autumn wildflower meadows located near the hives are packed with asters, rudbeckia, and goldenrod – all of which contribute to the character of this honey, according to Runamok.

The Florida Orange Blossom Honey is a mild, tropical honey sourced from hives that are situated in citrus groves. The perfume of orange flowers makes this honey the perfect pairing for tea or even pancakes. The High Plains Clover Honey comes from hives located in the high plains of Montana. Honey bees are more likely to feed on clover than any other flower, so this honey has a clean and bright flavor profile that features sweet, earthy notes.

The hot honey category within the new collection is headlined by the Chipotle Morita Infused Honey, which strikes the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, according to Runamok. Boasting a nice kick and a hint of smoke, this honey is reportedly delicious drizzled over fried chicken. The spiciest honey in the collection is the Chile de Arbol Infused Honey, which comes with a heat level hot enough to get customers’ attention but not so hot that it is overpowering. Featuring vibrant pepper flavors, this honey can be applied to grilled shrimp or ribs, swirled into cocktails, or added to a piping hot pizza. The Szechuan Peppercorn Infused Honey is a sweet and savory version that brings complexity to many dishes. The honey has that same piney, tongue-tingling finish that you get from Szechuan peppercorns, and Runamok says it is the perfect pairing for hard cheeses or used as a glaze over roasted pork.

The Lemon Verbena Infused Honey is bright and citrusy, packing plenty of lemon flavor without the acidity. It also boasts subtle herbal notes, making it an ideal pairing for teas, pastries, and soft cheeses. With its sweet, tangy notes of raspberry and lemon, the Hibiscus Flower Infused Honey is perfect for mixing into an iced tea or spreading on an English muffin.

The honey collection joins Runamok’s growing portfolio that includes a line of pure, infused, barrel-aged, smoked, and sparkle maple syrups and a collection of maple-based cocktail syrups and bitters. Runamok’s full product line is available for purchase online—through its own website and Amazon—as well as through retail stores and specialty grocers across all 50 states.

All of the products are available now on runamokmaple.com for $9.95 per 9oz jar.
