Franklin & Sons introduces soft drinks in an all-new format

Independent soft drink and mixer brand, Franklin & Sons, has announced an expansion of its soft drinks range, with the introduction of a sleek 250ml recycled aluminium can format, initially launching in three of its best-selling flavour SKUs.

The carbonated soft drinks will be available to on/off trade and export markets from the 16th August, in three fragrant flavours; Elderflower, Raspberry and Dandelion & Burdock, with an RRP of £12.99 for 12x250ml.

The launch comes in response to recent market data, which reveals a consumer preference for on-the-go drink consumption and ease of portability, particularly for outdoor events during the summer months.

The increase in consumer consciousness around sustainability has also acted as a key driver, with many now actively choosing to purchase canned drinks over single-use plastic or glass options, due to its widespread recyclability.

Adult soft cans are in growth, with a current estimated value of £83.4m, an indication of consumer demand for more eco-friendly premium options to enjoy on-the-go.

Elderflower and Raspberry are among the top-selling flavours within the category, with sales figures reaching £23.2 million and £13.2 million respectively; as customers reach for flavour variety and more premium, aesthetic soft drink options.

As a cornerstone of the brand’s original flavour collection, Dandelion & Burdock showcases Franklin & Sons’ commitment to provenance, paying homage to the brand’s traditional, pioneering heritage.

The range is vegan-friendly, HFSS compliant and low-calorie with no artificial additives, and each flavour has its own individual, premium aesthetic can design.

Lauren Edwards, brand manager at Franklin & Sons commented: “We’re thrilled to introduce our new 250ml cans, making our signature liquids even more accessible. They will genuinely offer a convenient yet premium solution for pubs and bars, as well as retail consumers for their on-the-go, summertime occasions.”

Edwards continues: “The range represents our dedication to providing premium, stylish and practical beverages, while providing a more sustainable and accessible solution to a wide range of on and off-trade stockists.
“Made from infinitely recyclable aluminium, they significantly reduce disposal and handling costs, while also appealing to the eco-conscious consumer.”

As with Franklin & Sons’ existing softs range, the canned SKUs enhance the drinking experience, with each flavour carbonated to the perfect level to make every sip delicious.

The NPD follows the recent launch of the brand’s Peach & Mango flavour – a refreshing, tropical soft drink brought to market in response to a 30.7% year-on-year growth in peach and mango flavour variants within the category.
