JBT FoodTech consolidates UK operations

Food technology solutions JBT FoodTech, which acquired ovens and cookers’ manufacturer Double D Food Engineering last year, has revealed plans to consolidate its UK operations by combining its Bedford and Broxburn sites.

The 40,000sq ft manufacturing site in Broxburn, Scotland, will become the headquarters for JBT FoodTech in the UK, housing manufacturing, sales and servicing operations for all JBT FoodTech lines, which include Frigoscandia, Stein and DSI.

The move will also provide all JBT FoodTech customers with access to the Broxburn-based Technology Centre where all product lines can be tested under expert supervision.

“As the Bedford site was purely sales and servicing, which we also already have here, it makes sense to consolidate all operations – design and manufacturing, sales, servicing and after market – from the same site, says JBT boss Bob Petrie.“This will streamline the whole operation, particularly as one of our key aims is to integrate Double D and JBT FoodTech product lines to make complete in-line cooking, cooling and processing systems.

“The move means we can bring together our skills, knowledge and resources to provide an enhanced range of products, and a stronger servicing and technical support base for our customers.

A management reorganisation and a number of new appointments have also been announced, all of which will be based at the Broxburn site.
