GNT offers algae-based Exberry Carotenes for natural yellows

GNT is offering algae-based Exberry Carotenes that can be used to deliver natural yellow colours a wide range of food applications.
The carotenes are available in liquid, powder and oil-soluble formats and can provide bright, stable shades in confectionery, snacks, baked goods, cheese, sauces, ice cream, yogurt, margarine and more.
They support low dosages and low cost-in-use and have no impact on taste or smell in the final application.
Exberry carotenes are made from the microalga Dunaliella salina and processed using essential oils. As such, they differ from nature-identical carotenes, which are typically created from petrochemicals.
They can be declared on ingredient lists in multiple ways including “Colour: Algal carotenes” in the EU, “Beta-carotene (colour)” in the US, and “Colour: Beta-carotenes” under Codex Alimentarius.

Exberry Carotenes are highly environmentally friendly. The production process does not require land mass or impact biodiversity, and no pesticides are used. Additionally, the growth of the algae serves as a carbon sink.
In addition, there are no health and safety risks in the production process. The physical work demands are low as the process is semi-automated.
