Coveris develops next-generation monomaterial tray for refrigerated goods

Coveris has unveiled a new resealable monomaterial tray solution for applications involving chilled food as part of its continuous No Waste goal. The revolutionary MonoFlexBP tray ensures longer shelf life and consumer convenience while replacing non-recyclable, mixed-material packaging.
Packaging for fresh food items needs to preserve quality and make it simple to reseal after opening. This requirement is satisfied by Coveris’ MonoFlexBP tray, which has a sophisticated resealing mechanism that enables the tray to be closed repeatedly, minimising food waste and enhancing customer satisfaction. Furthermore, Coveris offers thermoformable bottom films that assist guarantee the best possible shelf life for a range of chilled contents while providing superior product protection.
For applications requiring high oxygen barriers, Coveris offers a PET- and PA-free lidding film that seals, peels, and reseals effectively on PP trays. This resealable lid features a high gas barrier, essential for maintaining the freshness of perishable goods. The combination of recyclable MonoFlexBP trays and reclosable lidding films delivers a solution that balances sustainability, functionality, and consumer convenience.

For added visual appeal and branding flexibility, the trays can be printed using gravure or flexographic methods and are also available with a matt or paper-effect lacquer finish.
