Hames Chocolates eyes premium gifting market

Hames Chocolates, the independent British chocolatier, has announced the launch of a new Dark Chocolate Fondant Cremes range.
The collection is specifically engineered to support independent retailers, farm shops, and the high-end gifting sector with a vegan-friendly, premium confectionery option.
The launch comes at a strategic time for the Skegness-based manufacturer, as it seeks to capitalise on the “premium nostalgia” trend — where consumers seek familiar, traditional formats elevated by high-quality, sustainable ingredients.
The new range features a 53% cocoa dark chocolate shell crafted from Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa. By utilising responsibly sourced chocolate, Hames is aligning with the growing consumer demand for ethical supply chains in the confectionery aisle.
The collection includes five distinct varieties, four of which are fruit-based using real fruit juice concentrates:
- Raspberry, Lemon, Orange, and Mango: these variants use natural oils and concentrates to deliver an authentic fruit profile.
- English Peppermint: this flagship SKU features peppermint oil distilled from English Black Mitcham, providing a traditional, sharp contrast to the rich dark chocolate.
For independent retailers, the range is designed as a “low-risk” addition to existing fixtures. Available in 88g packs (supplied in outers of eight), the product occupies a price point that works equally well as a self-indulgent treat or a small gift.
Carol Oldbury, director at Hames Chocolates, emphasised that the development was led by retailer feedback.
“It’s about offering a well-executed, premium fondant creme in flavours shoppers already know and enjoy,” Oldbury stated. “It’s something retailers can feel confident will sell through.”
Reflecting a broader shift in the UK chocolate market, the entire Dark Chocolate Fondant Cremes range is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians.
