Bio&Me capitalises on pistachio mania

Bio&Me, the UK’s leading gut health brand co-founded by Dr Megan Rossi (The Gut Health Doctor), has announced a strategic expansion of its breakfast portfolio.
The brand is launching two new pistachio-based products: Pistachio & Vanilla Low Sugar Granola and Pistachio & Chia Overnight Oats, aiming to marry one of the year’s biggest food trends with rigorous nutritional science.
The new SKUs are available this week nationwide at Tesco and via the Bio&Me website, both retailing at £3.50.
The decision to centre new launches around the pistachio is a calculated response to shifting consumer palates. While the nut is currently “having a moment” in the culinary world, Bio&Me’s approach focuses on the intersection of flavour and fibre diversity.
Dr Megan Rossi’s research emphasises that a healthy gut microbiome thrives on a wide variety of plant-based foods. The new launches are engineered to maximise this “plant points” philosophy:
- Pistachio & Vanilla Low Sugar Granola: Features 14 different plant-based foods, including pistachios, chia seeds, carrots, coconut, and dates.
- Pistachio & Chia Overnight Oats: Contains 12 plant-based ingredients, such as whole grain oats and almonds.
Unlike many trend-led snacks, these products carry the EFSA-approved “Good For Your Gut” health claim. They contain no artificial sweeteners or refined sugars, no palm oil, and High fibre content to act as “prebiotic” fuel for gut microbes.
“Pistachio is having a real moment… but for us, it isn’t about following a trend for trend’s sake. Pistachios are rich in gut-loving prebiotics and plant protein. It’s about pairing that creamy flavour with genuine health benefits,” Dr Megan Rossi, PhD RD, co-founder.
“We’ve seen strong demand from both consumers and retailers for a Bio&Me take on pistachio. These launches allow us to tap into the trend authentically while delivering the plant diversity our brand is known for,” added Jon Walsh, co-founder & CEO.
The launch comes on the heels of a massive financial milestone for the Chester-based company. Bio&Me has officially surpassed £20 million in retail sales, marking a staggering 52% year-on-year growth.
In 2025 alone, the brand moved 2.8 million boxes of granola, and 4 million pots of kefir yogurt.
By expanding into the pistachio space, Bio&Me is looking to maintain this momentum, positioning itself as the go-to brand for consumers who refuse to choose between on-trend flavours and clinical health standards.
