New part-time master’s course

In response to the demands of today’s business needs, Nottingham Trent University (UK) is helping companies address the skills gaps in the food industry by offering a range of flexible part-time qualifications to grow their own talent.

Launching in January 2015 the part-time MSc in food industry management combines the latest food sector knowledge with business modules to develop today’s junior and middle managers into tomorrow’s directors.

This multidisciplinary master’s will engage employees with the latest sector thinking, and by utilising the breadth of knowledge across all nine academic schools will deliver an exciting opportunity to enhance skills and career progression.

Areas of study include:

  • The regulatory environment in food manufacture
  • Contemporary issues for the food industry
  • Supply chain logistics
  • Lean management techniques and business improvement
  • Marketing and value creation
  • Management fundamentals
  • In-company project
  • Project management and multidisciplinary team working.

Replacing the traditional dissertation or thesis, students on this course will conduct a three-six month in-company project.
