Return of the grads
AutoCoding Systems runs a comprehensive Graduate Training scheme offering placements for Undergraduates studying Computer Science, or a similar discipline. As part of the scheme, Wilf Glover and Ryan Kelly spent their 3rd year working with the Software Development team where they were mentored by AutoCoding’s lead developers.
Having successfully completed their placement year, they both returned to Liverpool University for their final year and have both recently graduated with a first class degree with honours in Computer Science.
Wilf and Ryan have now returned to AutoCoding Systems as full time employees to continue working on the extensive range of AutoCoding modules designed to automate the packaging and production areas of a factory.
During their placement year, Wilf and Ryan participated in the full software lifecycle, from requirements gathering, design and implementation, through to testing and validating the suitability of the software for customers. They also contributed towards the development of new software features to suit the requirements of overseas markets, specifically in the US and Australia.
Commenting on how his placement year had helped with his final year at university, Wilf said, “I was introduced to the very latest software tools, techniques and frameworks whilst working at AutoCoding. I was also given the opportunity to work on various independent projects for which I was responsible. This certainly helped when planning and undertaking my final year dissertation as I was able to use some of the development methodologies I had been introduced to.”
During his placement year, Ryan designed and built an application to carry out Database Administration tasks within the AutoCoding software suite. Ryan said, “I was able to use much of the knowledge gained during my placement year in my final year project. It was good to be able to relate theories to the practical applications I had been involved in with AutoCoding Systems. I’m excited to return to the job I enjoyed so much and to be able to make my mark on the software solutions as they evolve.”
