Lipton is aiming to redefine the beverage category with the launch of Lipton Ice Tea Infuse, a new cold-brew range designed to transform plain water into sugar-free fruit tea in minutes.

Lipton has introduced a new cold-brew format designed specifically for on-the-go hydration. Unlike traditional tea bags that require boiling water, the Lipton Ice Tea Infuse range is engineered to brew directly in cold water. The line-up launches with three core flavours: Mango & Rooibos, Hibiscus & Pomegranate, and Lemon & Mint.

The innovation lies in the tea-leaf processing and bag design, which allows for rapid infusion without heat.

  • Cold-brew technology: the teabags are specifically treated to release flavour and colour in cold temperatures within five minutes.
  • Convenience factor: designed for the water bottle generation, the tea bags do not have a string or tag, making them easy to drop into a reusable bottle and leave in.
  • Formulation: the range is completely sugar-free and contains no artificial sweeteners or calories, addressing the growing demand for “clean label” hydration.

Lipton is positioning “Infuse” as a healthy alternative to sugary soft drinks and a flavour-enhancer for the 7.7 billion plastic water bottles used annually in the UK. By encouraging the use of reusable bottles, the brand is aligning itself with plastic-reduction trends.

The vibrant, pyramid-shaped bags ensure maximum surface area for the infusion, delivering a premium taste profile that differentiates it from traditional squash or liquid water enhancers.

The launch aligns with Lipton’s commitment to sustainable sourcing. The tea leaves are sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms, and the teabags themselves are made from plant-based, compostable materials. This ensures that the product meets the environmental standards expected by modern consumers and retailers alike.

With the rise of water-plus, there is a significant market opportunity in enhancing plain water, as consumers move away from carbonated soft drinks toward functional, low-calorie hydration.

Moving the tea category outside of the kettle occasion allows brands to capture new consumption moments, such as the gym, the office, or travel.

Plant-based, plastic-free teabags are becoming a must-have rather than a nice-to-have for major global brands.

The cold-brew tea segment is rapidly expanding as health-conscious consumers look for caffeine-free, sugar-free ways to stay hydrated. Lipton’s entry into this space with a game-changing format signals that the traditional tea industry is successfully evolving to stay relevant in a fast-paced, health-centric beverage market.
