Diageo introduces convenience-exclusive Smirnoff Crush variant

Diageo has expanded its ready-to-drink (RTD) portfolio with the introduction of Smirnoff Crush Blueberry & Pomegranate.
In a tactical channel play, the beverage giant is rolling out the new flavour format as an exclusive for the independent convenience retail sector in the UK before a wider national release in September 2026.
The launch is timed to capitalise on the peak summer trading window, directly targeting casual social gatherings, music festivals, and pre-drinking occasions.
The introduction of the Blueberry & Pomegranate variant builds on the commercial momentum of the existing Smirnoff Crush line-up, which includes Mango & Peach and Lemon & Lime flavours. According to Diageo, the two flavours have generated nearly £1.1 million in value sales, with an impressive 76% of that volume proving entirely incremental to the RTD category.
By granting independent convenience stores exclusive access to the newest flavour variant during the high-demand summer months, Diageo is offering neighbourhood retailers a powerful mechanism to differentiate their alcohol aisles and capture impulse purchases. The product is packaged in larger-format 440ml cans with a 6% ABV and a recommended retail price (RRP) of £2.99, hitting a critical sweet spot for shoppers seeking premium, single-serve options.
The launch reflects broader shifts in consumer purchasing behaviour within neighbourhood retail settings, where shoppers are increasingly turning to high-ABV, larger-format RTDs over traditional beers or ciders. Furthermore, consumer demand for fruit-forward and berry-infused profiles continues to dictate innovation pipeline strategies across the spirits market.
