As part of the PPMA Seminar Programme 2014, on Wednesday 1st October from 12pm-12.45pm, I will be chairing a session entitled Adapt or Die – The evolution of consumer packaging. Presented by Kevin Vyse, packaging technologist at M&S Food Group, the session will ask the question: Do any of us really know how environmental concerns are going to play out in reality and do we fully understand how the global consumer and lifestyle changes are going to impact packaging solutions?

Having worked on all sides of the packaging design and engineering process, Vyse’s career has spanned the design of packaging, branding, engineering and packaging technology as well as senior management roles. During the session, he will explain how faster and faster moving consumer goods and ever evolving supply chains are going to need a new way of developing product and packaging as the decade roles on. New usage occasions will need new formats and new materials will create more possibilities. So, how will we adapt our businesses to survive?

Speaking about his involvement at the PPMA Show, Vyse says, “The PPMA Show brings leading experts from across the manufacturing sector together to discuss the latest issues impacting the industry. I’m very much looking forward to taking to the stage in the seminar theatre to talk about the evolution of consumer packaging and I do hope that my presentation sparks a healthy debate amongst attendees at the NEC.”

Grant Collier, PPMA head of marketing for the PPMA Group, adds, “Kevin brings a wealth of relevant packaging experience and is widely respected throughout the packaging industry. I’m sure his presentation will provide visitors to the PPMA Show with a greater understanding of the future landscape of the consumer packaging sector, the trends and issues we can look ahead to. The talk will also explore how varying factors within the packaging sectors will influence this path to industry growth.”

Three reasons to attend:

  • The world is a fast changing place and we need to embrace adaptability – this seminar explores why
  • New package formats and materials will create new possibilities to meet changing lifestyles
