Rapscallion’s adds X_03 Passionfruit to fresh fruit line-up

Rapscallion Soda is ready to unveil its latest innovation after a tough couple of years.

Founder Gregor Leckie said: “I’m excited about this year, we survived the worst of the last two years but with fresh interest from investors coming onboard they’ll be injecting some much needed capital into our new Innovation Facility in the heart of Glasgow.”

“We have just finished canning our latest Passionfruit project, and we’re excited to see the response from our customers, we’ve worked hard to create a bright, light new expression of a tropical fruit that is usually enjoyed alongside a mountain of sugar.

“This new recipe captures the full taste and aroma of these incredible Columbian Passionfruits. We have enjoyed mixing these trials at home with a slice of citrus, but we always encourage experimental additions. If you’re not involved in Dry January this year, we love it with a splash of white rum,” explained Gregor.

Since Rapscallion Soda was launched 2016 as a pop up, the Glasgow-born brand has built its worldwide fan base and reputation on creating sodas that use fresh, natural ingredients with complex taste combinations to create sustainable, vegan, organic and low-sugar soft drinks.

This subversive range of sodas are made with fresh, seasonal and, importantly, local produce. Recognisable by its no-nonsense, design-led pastel cans and includes flavours such as Ginga Ninja, Burnt Lemon, Dry Lime, Rhubarb, Strawberry and Cranachan.

Partner in business and life, Sophie Easthope said: “Our passionfruit is one of the X series we continue to be really excited about, we like pushing the boundaries and we work closely with our Friends with Benefits members to trial small scale projects that get two thumbs up before we start looking at scale. This gives us the chance to work closely with our community and get to know their tastebuds better.”

Previous X_series flavours include Blueberry, Bramble and Pina Colada.

The new Passionfruit X_series is available online from Sunday 15th January and incorporates Rapscallion’s commitment to fresh produce whilst pushing the boundaries of what adult soft drinks can be and sourcing new crops outside of Scotland.

The ‘X’ stands for experimental and exclusive. These micro batches give customers the opportunity to influence the final flavour profile and vote on future batches.

Gregor Leckie said: “From a business perspective this allows us to trial out new flavours at a micro scale and gain valuable feedback before taking the best recipes to commercial scale. He added “We’re super excited about our new electric vehicle too which is further commitment to being an evolving sustainable brand which continues to grow.”
