Whitakers Chocolates, one of the UK’s longest-established chocolatiers, has announced a major strategic investment with the commissioning and opening of a dedicated nut processing facility at its Snaygill site in Skipton, Yorkshire, UK.

This development is seen as a pivotal milestone in the company’s 135-year history, fundamentally expanding its production capabilities while safeguarding its core chocolate operations.

The new facility is purpose-built for specialised nut handling and processing. Its establishment ensures the segregation of allergens, which in turn safeguards the company’s existing BRC AA accredited factory for the continued, safe production of its beloved core chocolate range.

Managing director, William Whitaker, emphasised the strategic importance of the investment, which was realised with the support of its parent company, Bramble Foods Group.

“This investment hasn’t come lightly, especially with the unpredictability within the cocoa market. Our long-held ambition to create a dedicated nut processing facility has now become a reality. This specialised capacity will not only enhance our seasonal chocolate range but, critically, will open the doors to exciting new own-label opportunities,” Whitaker commented.

The first product to utilise this new capability is the new double-enrobed Milk Chocolate Brazil Nuts, launching just in time for the festive season. However, the operational scope goes far beyond a single seasonal line. The new facility provides the necessary processing foundation to support a robust pipeline of future innovations. This includes plans for dark chocolate Brazils (set to launch in April 2026) and the capability to integrate other much-loved classics like marzipan, nougat, and Turkish delight into the manufacturing mix.
