Amcor’s ‘Moderna’ Flip Top meets demands for sustainability and convenience

Amcor has announced the launch of the Moderna Flip Top tamper-evident closure, a versatile packaging solution engineered specifically for vinegar, sauces, and dressings.
Designed to address evolving consumer and regulatory expectations, the new closure aims to bridge the gap between environmental responsibility and everyday usability.
As brand owners navigate increasingly stringent global packaging regulations, lightweighting and recyclability have become critical priorities. The Moderna features a recycle-ready, mono-material one-piece design that can be effectively recycled where appropriate collection facilities exist, and its minimised material usage helps companies comply with evolving plastic packaging regulations without compromising structural performance.
Beyond its environmental credentials, the Moderna closure is engineered to deliver a superior user experience and heightened safety assurance. Designed for a 29/21 neck finish, it is available in a variety of orifice sizes, including 2 mm, 6 mm, and multi-orifice options, to ensure precise, controlled pouring or dispensing.
The tamper-evident system is integrated within the flip-top lid, offering a visible seal confirming the product has not been previously opened while allowing easy, one-handed operation.
After opening, the TE tab is permanently captured within the closure body, eliminating the risk of it being lost in the waste stream or spilled into the environment. The closure also features a snap-on application for secure sealing on PET bottles and incorporates a reliable bore seal to safeguard product freshness. Brands can customise the design to meet specific aesthetic requirements through a broad range of standard colour options.
Commenting on the market launch, Matthias Hammersen, vice-president sales for Amcor Global Rigids Packaging Solutions, stated that with the Moderna Flip Top TE closure, Amcor has created a lightweight design that combines functionality, customer convenience, and recycle-readiness, supporting the circular economy while providing improved usability for a wide range of applications.
