Food businesses to go head to head

Food and drink businesses across the UK supply chain are anxiously waiting to discover whether they have beaten off the competition to be named best in class at the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Awards ceremony to be held on 18 September.

At a black-tie event to be hosted by BBC presenter Katie Derham at London’s The Brewery, 400 of the industry’s best and brightest stars will come together to celebrate excellence. Businesses and individuals will be recognised across a number of categories, including: Apprentice of the Year, Environmental Leadership, Exporter of the Year, Food and Drink Engineer of the Year, Good Employer, Growth Business, Health and Wellbeing, Innovation and, new to 2014, Rising Star and Community Champion.

Steve Barnes, FDF’s director of economic and commercial services, says, “The FDF Awards are a benchmark of excellence which recognise outstanding businesses in our industry and the people who make them great. Our thanks go out to all of those who applied, the judges and especially the sponsors who make this major celebration possible. We look forward to welcoming businesses, government, trade bodies and media to what will be a fantastic night and look forward to presenting the worthy winners with their well-earned accolades.”

Sponsors for this year’s awards are Aktrion Food and Drink, apetito, Food Matters Live, General Mills, Grant Thornton UK LLP, Nestlé UK, PepsiCo UK and Spirax Sarco Ltd.
