AG Barr does business with Bevan

In a continued drive to reduce its carbon footprint, a UK soft drinks manufacturer has invested in an environmentally friendly Bevan21 truck body.

Fitted to a 26-tonne chassis, the aerodynamic buckleless curtain-sider is part of the first order placed by AG Barr with dry freight bodybuilder Bevan Group.

The Bevan21 is designed to reduce wind resistance while maintaining cubic load volumes, and has a curved roof and a specially moulded air deflector and cab collar.

Graeme Kay, head of logistics at AG Barr, says the decision to place its first order with Bevan Group was based on a two-year trial exercise and in full consultation with site management teams.

“We decided to purchase the Bevan21 for the trunking role because it met all of our operational and environmental criteria,” he says. “We’re continually looking at ways of reducing our environmental impact by saving energy, cutting waste and reducing our carbon footprint, and we are confident that this new vehicle will make a positive contribution towards achieving these goals.”

AG Barr runs a fleet of nearly 150 commercial vehicles, ranging from small vans up to 44-tonne tractor units, which operate from eight retail and production sites across the UK.
