Jar range extended

Following the success of its ThermaLite PET jar, rigid plastic packaging specialist APPE has extended the range with the launch of five new round jars, designed for the food market as replacements for glass packaging.

The 100 per cent PET jar can be hot or cold filled at temperatures up to 95°C and then pasteurised at a slightly lower temperature with most methods of pasteurisation. 85 per cent lighter than glass and available in five sizes from 212ml to 720ml, all with a 63mm neck opening, the jars are suited to cooking sauces, pasta sauces, pesto, tomato-based products, pickled vegetables, relishes, chutneys, fruit purées, jams and spreads.

For fillers, the shatterproof jars can be used on glass filling lines with little or no modification required. Line downtime and batch spoilage due to breakage is virtually eliminated, noise levels in the production environment are reduced and less secondary packaging is required.
