Best before bargains

We often report on initiatives to tackle the food waste problem, including the likes of food redistribution charities, which aim to pass on rather than waste incorrectly labelled, over ordered or over supplied food as well as obsolete seasonal stock, and food surplus supermarkets, such as Denmark’s WeFood, which sells cut price produce that is past its sell by date but perfectly edible.

Arla and DMK in mozzarella deal

Arla Foods and German dairy company DMK Group have signed a third-party manufacturing contract that will see DMK produce 35,000 tons of mozzarella cheese for Arla per year at its Nordhackstedt site in northern Germany.

The plot thickens

In many news reports, the escalating ‘eggs scandal’ is being likened to 2013’s horsemeat scandal, with both food scares spreading across Europe quite rapidly.
