A welcome message

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new editor of Food & Drink Technology and to thank my predecessor Katrine Callander for imparting her knowledge of the sector upon me.

I have just finished working on summer’s bumper issue covering both July and August. In the issue, we continue the countdown to the new labelling regulations, due to come into force this December, with a look at some of the companies offering solutions to help manufacturers remain compliant with the new rules. There’s also a recurring sustainability theme in the issue, with Food & Drink Technology’s Letitia Booty reporting on two recent events which placed an emphasis on sustainability, and I take a look at the current issues facing the chocolate industry and what’s being done to secure a long-term supply of cocoa.

It appears I have joined the magazine just ahead of ‘show season’ and am effectively being thrown in at the deep end! With appearances scheduled at numerous shows around Europe before the end of the year – including PPMA, SIAL, FoodTech, Brau Beviale, Emballage, Food Matters Live and Hi Europe – I hope to make contact with many of Food & Drink Technology’s readers and contributors over the coming months and look forward to becoming a part of the industry.
