Campina invests £80 million in Belgian plant
Campina has opened a fully refurbished production facility in Aalter, Belgium, representing an investment of £80 million.
The plant will produce long-life dairy products such as Yazoo and Yogho Yogho, for Europe and other parts of the world.
Production capacity is expanded, with an annual capacity of 275 million units (UHT bottles), employing 500 people. There is also a new automated 10,000m2 warehouse.
Bert Jansen, of Campina’s executive board, said,“The approach in Aalter confirms our priority for market growth through innovative dairy in Europe. It underlines our willingness to invest in order to realise that ambition. A market leader such as Campina must be able to respond quickly to changing consumer needs.
Aalter is part of the newly-formed Consumer Products Europe group within Campina. From October, it will be joined by two other units, Cheese & Butter, and Industrial Products.
