PepsiCo in bid to acquire UK crisp company

Global food and beverage firm PepsiCo, which already already owns Walkers Crisps and Doritos, has launched a bid to acquire Pipers Crisp to grow the UK company and develop its exports.
The snack firm was founded in 2004 and employs more than 75 people.
The bid is subject to approval by the Competition and Markets Authority, and comes just months after PepsicCo bought the Sodastream brand.
“The Pipers’ brand has a strong proposition within the market, with stand-out taste, flavours and appeal,” says Ian Ellington, PepsiCo UK’s general manager.
Pipers delivers directly from a number of its own regional hubs across the UK using its own vans, as well as supplying customers through selected distribution partners.
The company also exports to 37 countries worldwide.
