Papa John’s extends its vegan range

Pizza delivery chain Papa John’s is extending its meat-free offering by adding a new butternut squash base and a range of new vegan pizzas to its menu nationwide from early January.

Further recognising the need for alternative dietary requirements and in a first for the brand, Papa John’s is launching a *Butternut Squash Base. With health kick resolutions in full swing, pizza lovers across the nation can continue to make healthier choices, whilst still enjoying a delicious takeaway treat. The Butternut Squash base is available with all medium pizzas with gluten-free toppings.

The four new vegan pizzas include; the Jackfruit Pepperoni, American Hot Jackfruit, The Vegan Sausage and Pepperoni pizza, and The Vegan Works. The new plant-based offering follows the introduction of vegan ‘Sheese’ last year.

In order to grow its vegan offering in 2020 and beyond, Papa John’s has also appointed its first chief vegan officer (CVO), Clare Every, to help the brand develop new plant-based dishes and innovations.

Clare Every, chief vegan officer at Papa John’s said: “We’re so excited to launch the extended vegan offering at Papa John’s and we’re expecting the new additions to the menu to be a huge hit with pizza lovers across the nation.

“With recipe innovation at the core of the brand, and more people than ever adopting a vegan lifestyle, the latest launches are only just the beginning, with lots more exciting and innovative dishes launching later in the year.”

*While the Butternut Squash base is Gluten-Free, the pizza will be prepared in an environment that contains gluten which means cross contamination may occur whilst preparing the order. Therefore, this product is not suitable for Coeliacs. The base is now available as an option on selected medium sized pizzas for an additional £1.50.
