Beverages with flexitarian & health focus to boost business this summer, says Kerry

Plant-based concepts and teas with health benefits are among the top beverage trends for this summer, according Kerry, leading taste and nutrition company.
DaVinci Gourmet, Kerry’s foodservice brand, has launched a new innovative range of beverage concepts for spring/summer 2021, with research into consumer trends showing that consumers will seek beverages that deliver flexitarian indulgence, fruity refreshment, or teas with a healthy twist.
With the naturality trends continuing to gather pace, Kerry’s insights show that tea still plays an important part on menus. Consumers are reportedly moving away from sugary drinks and perceive flavoured teas as good alternatives. This trend has potential to attract new consumers to the tea and coffee category, with consumers seeking concepts that offer novelty but also familiarity.
Meanwhile, the preference for plant-based is on the rise, with the number of consumers seeking oat bases on the rise. However, Kerry reports that there is a gap in the market for indulgent plant-based beverages more consumers seeking vegan options for milkshakes hot chocolate and coffee.
Commenting on the new range, Kerry barista George Doran said the new recipes will support chains to boost their business this summer: “With businesses preparing to reopen later in the year after a difficult period, it is crucial that menu items leverage key consumer trends and preferences The concepts we have created address these concerns, as they are simple to prepare and deliver, and also offer novelty and variety.
“Simplicity of concept will help to deliver affordable luxury for consumers, as they seek permissible indulgence from their beverages. Consumers also respond to concepts that can be tailored simply to their taste, from hot or cold, or dairy or plant based.”
The recipe range from DaVinci Gourmet is designed to help foodservice outlets grow business this summer by using the latest insights based around consumer preferences. Commenting on the launch, senior brand manager, Laure Confrey said the concepts will keep companies on top of new trends and help boost business this summer. “Operators will be focused on driving customer traffic in-store and boosting menu margin this summer.
