Bio&Me explores ‘Pot’-ential of gut-loving gluten free porridge

Bio&Me is extending its gluten free line of products with the launch of its first Gluten Free Porridge Pots.

Created in response to consumer demand, the pots are available in seasonal Spiced Apple and Nice & Nutty flavours, RSP £1.30/58g pot. Sainsbury’s will be stocking both variants across 383 of its stores, and the pots will be also available via independent retailers nationwide.

Leading the way in providing consumers with gut healthy products that have no added sugars or hidden nasties, the Bio&Me team is delighted that Sainsbury’s shoppers will be able to enjoy these handy on-the-go pots.

The new listing further consolidates Bio&Me’s gut-loving presence in Sainsbury’s, which was the first major retailer to get behind the business when it launched at the end of 2019, bringing the total number of the brand’s SKU’s available in the supermarket to 12.

As well as being gluten free, the new pots are 100% plant-based, and high in fibre.

According to the brand, the pots, launching at the start of the porridge season, are perfect for delivering a gut healthy breakfast (simply add water), and also make a wholesome afternoon snack. The ‘Spiced Apple’ variant contains 11 diverse plant-based foods including wholegrain oats, apple, almonds, dates and seeds, while ‘Nice & Nutty’ is full to the brim with 13 diverse plant-based foods including almonds and hazelnuts, plus pumpkin and sunflower seeds.

Jon Walsh, Bio&Me co-founder and CEO, notes how market data shows that its current porridge pots (Apple & Cinnamon and Super Seedy & Nutty Porridge Pots – which are non gluten free) are performing “incredibly well”, delivering over 50% incremental growth to the category.

We are therefore really excited to be launching our first gluten free porridge pots into Sainsbury’s,” Walsh says. “Since we brought out our first gluten free granola last year, we have had numerous requests to add more products to our repertoire. We are delighted to be fulfilling that demand and offering shoppers two nutritious and convenient gluten free porridge options that don’t compromise on taste. The Sainsbury’s team has been behind Bio&Me from the get-go, and we’re so appreciative of their continued support.”

Dr Megan Rossi, Bio&Me co-founder, says of the new gluten free launches: “m delighted to be extending our range to include these gluten free, high fibre pots of goodness with no added sugar. Everyone’s gut is different, so at Bio&Me it’s important to us to offer greater choice to meet the needs of everyone, including those who avoid gluten, whether that be because they have coeliac disease or gluten intolerance (more formally known as non-coeliac gluten sensitivity).”
