The Gym Kitchen targets GLP-1 diets

High-protein healthy meals trailblazer The Gym Kitchen has introduced a new range of nutrient-packed chilled dishes explicitly engineered to capture the rapidly growing consumer demographic using GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
The launch represents a strategic pivot for the functional food brand, which is capitalising on a major shift in modern grocery shopper needs. As GLP-1 medications suppress appetite and reduce the volume of food consumers can comfortably eat, there is an escalating market demand for macro-balanced, nutrient-dense options packaged in smaller portion sizes.
The primary operational driver behind the new range is providing maximum nutritional efficiency within a reduced footprint. While standard ready meals often rely on larger volumes to hit macronutrient targets, The Gym Kitchen’s new line packs high protein and dietary fibre into a compact 280g size.
The brand’s strategy centres on proving that smaller, calorie-conscious portions can still deliver on taste, satiety, and affordability without leaving consumers with nutritional gaps. The initial rollout features a menu of popular global profiles, including Asian Chicken Noodles, Meatball Pasta, and Mexican Chicken & Rice.
Founder Segun Akinwoleola highlighted the strategic agility behind the development: “The launch of our new ‘Nutrient-Packed’ GLP-1-friendly range reflects a clear shift in shopper needs and together with the expansion of our core offer in Sainsbury’s further cements the brand’s position as a category leader and go-to destination in functional chilled meals and beyond.”
The launch coincides with a massive retail expansion for the brand at Sainsbury’s, where its footprint is growing more than threefold — from four lines to 13. This surge reflects heavy consumer demand for convenient, high-protein convenience foods.
Alongside the 280g GLP-1 friendly range, Sainsbury’s is stocking new core chilled ready meals like BBQ Chicken Pasta, Chinese Chicken Curry, and Chipotle Chicken Burrito, as well as the brand’s top-selling staples.
The Gym Kitchen is simultaneously scaling its presence across other major UK supermarket chains to capture different meal formats. This includes launching three new large-format 550g frozen meals (Chicken Korma, Salt & Pepper Chicken, and Chicken Katsu Curry) in Asda, alongside two new 400g chilled meals (Salt & Pepper Chicken and Chicken Carbonara) landing on Morrisons’ shelves.
