BFFF president praises resilience of frozen food

British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) president chairman Peter Allan has praised the level of economic recovery in the UK and the growth of frozen, but suggests there is still a long way to go until consumer confidence returns.

During his speech at the BFFF Annual Luncheon, Allan, who is general manager and director at Cargill Meats Europe, said, “Commentators have been surprised by both the strength and the breadth of the economic turnaround, however a low level of wage inflation has resulted in a much healthier economy but less happy individuals, many of whom are still struggling to see any real increase in their disposable income.”

Highlighting the struggle experienced by the UK’s retail industry as a whole, Allan pointed to positives of the last 12 months, such as frozen food’s continued growth in retail and the strong signs of growth in the varied foodservice industry.
